Pledge Events
Thank you for the support towards NDP 2025! The Pledge Event application window is now closed.
What are Pledge Events?
National Day belongs to all of us Singaporeans. It is the time for us to come together as one, and celebrate what it means to be Singaporean. Beyond just attending the parade on 9 August, we’re inviting you to organise Pledge Events to celebrate our nation’s birthday in your communities in your own way. Let’s build stronger bonds with each other, care for others in our society, and contribute ideas on how we can create a better shared future for all of us.
Examples of Pledge Events
Explore how different communities across Singapore are celebrating our nation's spirit through Pledge Events — each highlighting how we Connect with each other, Care for others, and Contribute to our refreshed Singapore dream.
Example 1: Intergenerational Wellness Day @ Active Ageing Centre (Care)
In this citizen-organised community event, seniors, families, and volunteers come together in a meaningful celebration of care and togetherness. Activities include family games, art and dreamboarding workshops, singalongs of familiar NDP songs, and distribution of NDP collaterals to seniors. The event fosters a warm, inclusive environment for bonding across generations.
🤝 Care: Celebrates and supports the well-being of seniors through joyful, inclusive engagement.
Example 2: Thematic Storytelling @ Public Libraries (Connect)
The National Library Board will be hosting a series of storytelling sessions across public libraries. As part of this initiative, a special session at Punggol Regional Library will be enhanced to celebrate Singapore’s 60th birthday. August the mascot makes a special appearance, alongside a heartwarming reading of “Timmy & Tammy at the National Day Parade”. Families can also take part in NDP25 activities such as singing along to beloved NDP songs, Dreamboard creation and more.
🧩 Connect: Encourages intergenerational bonding through storytelling and shared national experiences.
Example 3: Toastmasters Leadership Installation – NDP25 Edition (Contribute)
Over 250 members of District 80 Toastmasters from across Singapore come together for the installation of new District leaders for term 2025-2026, featuring a special “Majulah Moment” with the National Pledge and Anthem. As part of SG60 efforts, participants will also share their hopes and aspirations for Singapore's future during the event.
🌱 Contribute: Provides a platform to promote deeper engagement through reflection among citizens on their aspirations for Singapore.
Overseas Singaporean? You’re included too!
We welcome our overseas Singaporeans to connect with each other and celebrate National Day in your own way too! Overseas Singaporean groups may apply through the Singapore Global Network Funding Programme (SGNFP), which supports ground-up initiatives that foster community spirit, strengthen connections to Singapore, encourage networking with friends of Singapore, and promote awareness of opportunities in Singapore and the region. Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
General Information
Q1. What are Pledge Events?
Pledge Events are ground-up, community-led celebrations happening across Singapore (and beyond!) as part of our journey. Each Pledge Event includes a collective recitation of the National Pledge and Anthem, and may receive support such as exclusive collaterals and Mascot Appearances.
Q2. Why are we supporting Pledge Events?
We support Pledge Events as part of our commitment to make National Day more meaningful and inclusive. These events empower Singaporeans to celebrate in their own communities, reflect on our shared journey, and take action to build a better future together. This year, we are encouraging ground-up initiatives that embody the spirit of "Majulah Singapura" — Onward Singapore.
Q3. When are Pledge Events meant to be held?
Pledge Events are encouraged to be held as early as possible from 1 July to 10 August 2025, in the lead-up to National Day. This period allows communities to build momentum and celebrate together through meaningful and inclusive activities across the island.
