National Day Parade 2026 Show Inspires Singaporeans to Go Beyond
As we embark on a new decade of Singapore’s independence, the National Day Parade (NDP) 2026 Show celebrates the contributions of Singaporeans from different walks of life and pays tribute to the unwavering spirit and resilience that have shaped our nation's past, strengthened our present, and inspire us to Go Beyond.
Directing the show for the second time, Creative Director Mr Brian Gothong Tan expressed, “Directing the NDP again has been an amazing journey, and our goal this time was simple — to reach higher. 'Go Beyond!' is a challenge to all of us to tap into our boundless potential. Every segment of the performance is designed to surprise, inspire, and show off the incredible spirit of our people. Let us celebrate our journey and step into the future together!”. With 36 artistes and more than 2,600 performers, the Show will engage Singaporeans via authentic stories, innovative technology, and a moving soundtrack.
Authentic Stories
The show similarly celebrates our diversity by showcasing the diverse stories and achievements of our people. Drawing inspiration from the National Stadium, the show leans heavily into the sporting spirit of our athletes to convey the NDP 2026 theme "Majulah Singapura, Go Beyond!”. We will see athletes and para-athletes participate in the go-live moment, featuring Max Maeder (Kite Foiler), Kai Minejima-Lee (Indoor Skydiving), Moza Alyka Baihakki (Para Swimmer), and Yip Pin Xiu (Para Swimmer), to name a few. Sports coaches and athletes will also be featured in the film “Roar!” in the last chapter of the NDP show. The film showcases their journeys of perseverance and triumph, as our athletes and coaches demonstrate what it means to Go Beyond — pushing boundaries, uplifting one another, and inspiring the nation.
NDP 2026 brings together Singaporeans from different walks of life. Our participants, performers and volunteers represent different age groups, backgrounds, and abilities. Apart from having para-athletes join us in the National Stadium, this year’s Show segment also features a diverse group of seven dancers, including an autistic dancer and a dancer with Down Syndrome, highlighting how every Singaporean can contribute to our shared future, regardless of their background or abilities.
Chapter 1: Go Beyond Self kicks off the celebrations with the Parade and Ceremony segment. Chapter 2: Go Beyond the Ordinary paves the way for the People’s Parade. Across 18 colourful floats, this lively procession shines a light on Singaporeans who choose to “Go Beyond” in their daily lives: serving Singapore in their own way by Protecting, Providing, Creating, Building, Caring, and Upholding Justice. Chapter 3: Go Beyond Our Size honours our roots and maritime history, showing how our nation's influence reaches far beyond our shores. Chapter 4: Go Beyond Time tells the story of Singapore’s development through the sounds, shows, and campaigns that have defined us since independence with a nostalgic walk down the history of television from its black-and-white origins to iconic homegrown productions. Chapter 5: Go Beyond Our Limits captivates the audience with an aerial performance and drone display. It conveys how resilience can overcome all odds as we look forward to our shared future. The final chapter, Chapter 6: Go Beyond, Together closes with the unifying power of sports as a metaphor to reflect overcoming challenges, resilience, and teamwork. This leads seamlessly to the Majulah Moment in which the audience is invited to take the Singapore Pledge and sing the National Anthem, supported by The People’s Choir, made up of 61 volunteer performers from all walks of life. This year, our Majulah Moment also commemorates the 60th anniversary of the Singapore Pledge.
Cutting Edge Technology
NDP 2026 benefits from our largest performance space to date with a stage featuring six lifts and eight under-stage tunnels that supports a more dynamic choreography. Projection mapping will be employed on an expansive aerial set comprising a static cuboid and five aerial cubes that will move in synchrony with the performance, providing an additional canvas to tell our stories. Three aerialists will also perform together with NDP’s first ever indoor drone show with 300 drones. The show will also feature NDP’s largest indoor special effects presentation with over 170 systems, more than twice of previous NDP shows. We expect also a lighting extravaganza with the most moving lights and lasers in recent NDPs. With improved technology, the light show will extend to the audience themselves. Our enhanced LED wristband system will blur the line between the stage and spectator stands as the audience transforms into a canvas of synchronised light displays that feature motifs, patterns, and text, adding to the show’s immersive audio-visual experience.
Moving Soundtrack
Music Director Bang Wenfu’s soundtrack serves as the show’s emotional heartbeat. Each chapter builds upon another to deliver fresh and varied musical storytelling spanning world music, sweeping symphonies, gritty rock, electronic dance music, and tender ballads. Examples include the upbeat interpretation of our favourite folk songs in Chapter 2, and songs based on the Orang Laut dialect by Asnida Daud, Karnatik poetry by Sushma Soma, and NADA’s contemporary sound sculpture in Chapter 3. The narrative hits a reflective pause in Chapter 4, using nostalgic sounds to remind us how far we have come as a nation. Thereafter, the soundtrack leaps into the future in Chapter 5 with the textures of electronic dance music of Jasmine Sokko’s You’ll Be Okay and Han Oh on the electric violin. Finally, the experience reaches a triumphant crescendo with Sky Shen’s inspiring ballad March on with Me, the anthemic Giants and the funky and soulful Sparkle. These chapter soundtracks will be released in the Go Beyond: NDP 2026 Album, and Singaporeans can listen to them on the NDPeeps Spotify and YouTube Channel from end-July 2026.
Chairman of the Show Committee, Colonel Wong Zeng Yu said, “The NDP Show seeks to inspire Singaporeans that we, as one united people, can overcome any challenge. We have come a long way as a nation, and as we step into the new decade, we encourage Singaporeans to Go Beyond to greater heights. The NDP Show also puts together local artistes and performers who have dedicated their time and talents in celebration of our nation’s birthday. As we mark our nation’s birthday, we also recognise our home-grown talents and how far NDP has come.”
